Dr. Yuan received his DDS and PhD degree at West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, which is the most prestigious dental school in China. He then pursued international trainings at Hiroshima University, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and University of California Los Angeles. He is now professor and chair of Department of Prosthodontics, West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University.

Dr. Yuan has a very broad interests of research, including Implant Dentistry, bone biology, stem cells and craniofacial biology. Currently, He is the vice president of Implant Research Group, International Association of Dental Research (IADR); Fellow of International College of Dentistry (ICD); Fellow of International Team of Implantology (ITI); Executive Committee Member of Dental Implant section, Chinese Stomatological Association. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers (first or corresponding author) and delivered academic lectures internationally.
