Abstract:

Objective To investigate the distribution offimA genotype ofP. gingivalisin chronic periodontitis patients. Methods Subgingival plaque sampleswere collected from 101 chronic periodontitis patients.P. gingivaliswas detected by both culture method andP. gingivalis16S rRNAPCR.fimAtype-specific primerwere designed, and the distribution offimAgenotype ofP. gingivalisin periodontitis patients were detected by PCR.Results The detective ratio ofP. gingivaliswas 88.1%. A- mong them, a singlefimAgenotype was detected in most subgingival plaque samples (65.1%), and the distribution of fivefimA genotypes amongP. gingivalispositive patients was as follows: typeⅠ, 24.7%; typeⅡ, 43.8%; typeⅢ, 15.7%; type Ⅳ, 40.4%; typeⅤ, 3.4%; respectively. Conclusion P. gingivaliswith variousfimAgenotypeswere present in subgingival plaque samples from chronic periodontitis patients, andP. gingivaliswith typeⅡfimA andⅣfimA were more predominant in chronic periodontitis patients, and they may be associated with the development of periodontitis.
